YouTube Unveils First-Ever Personalized Video Recap for 2025

US News: YouTube joined the end-of-year tradition on Tuesday by launching its first dedicated Recap experience focused on regular video watching, a long-awaited companion to the YouTube Music Recap that has been available for several years.

The new feature creates a customized set of up to twelve cards for each user, highlighting everything from their most-watched channels and favorite content categories to the way their interests evolved throughout 2025. One of the standout elements is a playful “watching personality” assigned based on viewing patterns. Users might be classified as a Skill Builder who gravitates toward tutorials and educational content, a Sunshiner who prefers feel-good videos, a Trailblazer who seeks out bold and unconventional creators, or one of several other types such as Wonder Seeker, Connector, or Dreamer.

Top songs and artists from the year also appear in the Recap, though YouTube encourages music enthusiasts to visit the separate YouTube Music Recap, which began rolling out last week, for more detailed listening statistics.

The rollout began Tuesday in the United States and Canada, with availability expanding globally over the coming days. Users can find their personalized Recap prominently displayed on the YouTube homepage or through the “You” tab on mobile apps and desktop browsers.

Company representatives said the video-focused Recap was among the most frequently requested features from the community. The final version emerged only after more than fifty different design concepts were tested with users.

Spotify Wrapped 2025 Arrives: Here’s How to See Your Year in Music and the Biggest New Features

In addition to individual Recaps, YouTube released its official 2025 trend rankings. MrBeast secured the number-one creator spot for the sixth straight year. The Joe Rogan Experience claimed the top podcast position, and the Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga collaboration “Die With a Smile” finished as the platform’s most popular song of the year.

The timing places YouTube alongside Apple Music Replay and Amazon Music’s year-end summary, both of which launched the same day. Spotify’s highly anticipated Wrapped remains the only major holdout still expected later this week.
